The southern terminal expansion, part of Project LIFT, is underway at Gold Coast Airport and will double the footprint of the existing terminal.
Driven by the need to accommodate existing and future capacity, the airport redevelopment also includes the refurbishment of the existing terminal.
In 2018, an $86 million upgrade involving construction of a new apron and taxiway was delivered, expanding capacity and improving efficiency. The upgrade included a 20,000sq m expansion of the apron area to facilitate parking for up to four additional aircraft.

Townsville Airport’s Project Alive is a long-overdue refurbishment project, which will deliver a terminal upgrade, additional aircraft parking bays, improved road access and an upgrade to all core infrastructure.
The last significant upgrade occurred in 2003 and since then Townsville Airport’s passenger movements have grown 45 per cent.
Project Alive will cater for the region’s growth and combat the airport’s current congestion issues.
